Bug in WITE 1.26

The overwrite test in WITE version 1.26 contains a serious error. The results of this test are unreliable. As a result, the overwrite test in WITE 1.26 should not be used.

Versions of WITE prior to 1.26 contained a properly functioning overwrite test. This problem was introduced with version 1.26 as a side effect of other bug fixes that were applied in this revision.

We plan to release a maintenance revision 1.261 on Monday 5/12/97 which will correct this problem. This version will be sent to all customers who received version 1.26 from us. Until the release of 1.261, the overwrite test in WITE version 1.255 or earlier may be used. Please note that in these releases, the parametric filter cutoff frequency must be higher than the overwriting signal frequency.
