WITETM Revision 1.41
Release Notes
This document contains the release notes for WITE revision 1.41 from Guzik Technical
Enterprises. The highlights of revision 1.41 include:
- Ability to grade difference between write and read widths in track profile test
- Support for new head stacks and PRML chips
- Bug fixes
All discussion of features and bugs in this document uses WITE version 1.4 as a baseline
for comparison. For information about features and modifications prior to 1.4, please
refer to the WITE user’s manual and to the release notes for previous revisions of WITE.

In WITE 1.4, the track profile test was enhanced to measure the write width, read
width and read-to-write offset. WITE 1.41 adds a new result. TPWrRdDelta is
the difference between the write and read widths reported separately. This result is
useful for grading the relative widths of the read and write gaps for production testing.
No changes have been made to the track profile interface. This result is not displayed
in the printed track profile plot, but is available among the results and can be graded.

When WITE 1.4 was used with a new TSA-suspension cartridge, problems reading the EEPROMS
would sometimes cause error messages saying "Error 1044: no head amplifier
connected" or "Error 1028: EEPROM no acknowledge." WITE 1.41
correctly reads the EEPROMS and does not exhibit this problem.
Immediately after running a production sequence which included scanning, an attempt
to delete a zone sometimes resulted in an "Operation not supported in
transactions" error message. WITE 1.41 does not trigger this error message.
A "Cannot sort zones" error message appeared intermittently when
zone execution order was changed in the production test. WITE 1.41 does not encounter
this problem.

Some bugs were found too late to be fixed for the 1.41 release
and will be fixed in a later release. This section contains all known
bugs that you are likely to encounter. A bug’s presence here means
that we are aware of the problem and actively working to solve it.
If you encounter a problem not on this list, please report it to Guzik customer support.
The "retest with next setup" option in the "Production | Grd/Norm"
menu does not register results to the database after the first setup. It should not be used.
Some DOS applications interfere with communication with Guzik hardware and can result
in unstable test results. Please exit all DOS applications before running WITE.
